The following message was received from the Chairman of the Sherborne Bradford Abbas Camera Club:

This year's Bradford Abbas Shield competition will take place on Tuesday 25 October and the theme we have chosed (sic) is 'Wet'. Interpret this however you like!

SPPS can submit 5 prints and 5 digital images on this theme. Detailed arrangements for the evening will follow nearer the time.

Strangely enough we had the theme of “Wet” for our March 2010 Challenge, however, even more images are now required.

As current holders of the Bradford Abba Shield, it is our duty to try to keep it for another year or two!

Who are we ?

We are a small friendly group with an interest in all types of photography. Our members are of all levels of ability from novice to experienced. Most of our members are using digital cameras of all types and makes, with one or two still preferring the traditional film methods. Visitors are always welcome at our events. Please come and meet us.

What do we do?

We try to make our meetings interesting for everyone. We aim to improve our photographic skills, learn how to take really good pictures, and how to manipulate the images using a PC and imaging software. This may include presentations from well known photographers, or members of the club with particular knowledge and experience on a specific topic. We also run monthly photo challenges, and enter the local annual inter club competition.

When do we meet ?

Our indoor meetings are normally held on the first and third Wednesday of each month and start at 7.30pm. (lasting approx 2 hours). We also have the occasional field trip/photo-shoot events.

Where do we meet ?

We meet in the Methodist Church Hall, Palmer Street, South Petherton. TA13 5BD.

Monthly Photo Challenges.

Each month the club members are set a photo challenge to produce digital images on a set topic. The images are then loaded onto the web site for all the members to view and comment on. They are also discussed in the first club evening of each month.

How much does it cost ?

Normal entrance fee:- Members £1.50 - Visitors £2.50 on the door. (tea/coffee included), Annual membership is payable in September. Rates - single £15.00 / couple £25.00 / full-time student £10.00.
